Planning & Production
I have provided my first draft to show my ideas for my
artwork, in which I drew simply from creativity
within. (Pictured left: first rough draft of illustration)
I will use Adobe Illustrator to portray the digital-design
part of my final outcome. My digital illustration will consist
of two women's bodies being traced together, to give the
illusion that they are in the same setting. I will then
illustrate screenshotted hate comments which they receive
on social media platforms, on the outside of their bodies
to serve as other people’s ever changing opinions, whilst
displaying kind body positivity related messages within
their bodies, which will highlight what is true and healthy.
I will then provide mental health organisations who can
provide support to those in need.

Step one: I started out by setting up my document file as a A3 landscape template within Adobe Illustrator. I then used my Wacom Digital Graphic Tablet in order to trace my original main image. I used the Paintbrush Tool, the Pen Tool and the Curvature Tool with the Stroke at 5pt. Oval.

Step Two: Using my Graphic Tablet I began to fill colour into my traced sketch using the Blob Brush Tool and the Eyedropper Tool. The colours are used almost identical to those in the original picture and answers with the eyedropper tool when they are with the original photo are enabled. The colours used to range from a Chocolate Brown, Grays, deeper tone colours to Yellow, Green and slightly warmer yet deep tone. I also drew stretch marks to portray the authenticity of Demi Lovato and Zendaya Coleman in order to show, no one is perfect. As I sketched and coloured
I separated everything into individual layers to help even out the process and fix any problems along the way.
Step 3: I changed the background colour by adding a new layer and selecting the rectangle tool and taking it over the entire art-board and then I double clicked the fill tool and applied the colour shade of a very light brown.

LEFT; original. RIGHT; EDITED
Step Four: In order to I clicked on the screenshotted comment, clicked image trace and made sure the preset is at default & the view is source image, expand and then ungroup. I move the black background of the text to one side and type out the hate comment separately, remove the text in element & bring the typed comment into the black space, which was moved aside earlier. This was only done for one of them, as for the others I simply copy and pasted the first comment edit and switched out the comments. I also resized the women according to the size of the art-board by unlocking the layers, selected over both women and scaled to appear bigger without compromising any of the art. Leading up to the final edit, I removed the black boxes and changed the colour of the comments from white to a light beige colour.

Step 5: I proceeded to promote the mental health organisations which I mentioned in my research file. I first imported png logos , which i sourced from google images and removed any background surroundings using the image trace method, which i used earlier above, i chose not to trace over these logo as i did with my first image because since, i scaled the logos into a corner, the graphic would be hard to see if transformed. Using the text tool, I included a message for mental health and changed the font to big caslon medium and colour to black to make it easier to read.
Step 6: Using my graphic tablet, the paintbrush tool and my Pinterest mood board based on ideas for my FMP, I decided to give the artwork a title “your body is not flawed, society is!” in black so it stands out. The reason behind this specific title is to be comfortable in your own skin as beauty standards are ever changing and so is everyone’s opinion of beauty, and to finish it off I began to pen body positivity related messages on their skin in a light beige colour, to highlight what is true and healthy for those who deal with body confidence issues. I used a calligraphy brush type with a stroke of 1.13pt . Unfortunately during my production, I lost my original file of work due to a fault within my laptop so I am unable to show a clear final image.
